Obedience Training
Focuses on learning fundamentals including sit, stay, recall, and leash walking.
The emphasis in obedience training is on teaching your dog to respond to commands and learning where boundaries are set. This is the most common form of training for dogs, especially puppies. Obedience Training involves you providing instruction or direction and your dog complying.
Duke Dog Care's experienced dog trainer, Ryan, will help get you and your dog on the right track to success! To start, it is recommended to book a consultation with our trainer to discuss the goals you look to achieve for your dog. We will then work together on designing a custom training program that will work best for your dog's specific requirements. Training locations, times, and course duration may vary for different dogs.
You will have prioritized weekly access to trainer support where you can reach out and ask any questions you may have during the week until your next in-person training session. Think of it more of a weekly membership rather than individual training sessions! With weekly training sessions, priority support, and consistent practice your dog will be better prepared to respond to your commands and you will be equipped with the proper tools to maintain the progress we make.

Behavioral Training
Focuses mainly on aggressive and/or reactive dogs
Behavioral training is used to deal with bad habits or undesirable behaviors that have been formed over time. Behavioral training can be useful and effective for younger dogs that seem to have some habits that their pet parents would like to modify. This is also effective for older dogs that may be reactive to certain triggers or are aggressive to other people/dogs. Ryan places an emphasis on exposure therapy so you and your dog learn how to handle every situation.

Behavioral Training is focused on deeper concerns parents may have for their dog's behavior. This is beneficial for helping build confidence in reactive dogs and taming the generally more aggressive dogs.

At the end of your first 5 weeks, your trainer will discuss whether your dog is ready for their final session or will need more training to achieve the goals we are working towards.
